Job Description
The Media Arts Network of Ontario (MANO) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter. This role offers an opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership position within Ontario’s artist-run media arts ecosystem.
As Executive Director, you will be responsible for strategic leadership, sector advocacy, financial oversight, project development, and organizational operations. You will work closely with MANO’s members, staff, board, and partners to support a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable media arts community across the province.
MANO Description
Founded in 2009, the Media Arts Network of Ontario (MANO) is a provincial arts service organization and advocacy body that supports a dynamic network of over 60 media arts organizations, collectives, and community partners. Our members span the fields of film, video, audio, digital media, and emerging practices. We advance artist-run culture and equity in the arts through public policy work, sectoral research, professional development, and community-building initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead sector advocacy, public policy engagement, and cultural strategy
- Secure funding and develop innovative, community-centered initiatives, including a tri-annual provincial media arts sector conference
- Manage grants, budgets, and strategic planning processes
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with members and partners
- Supervise and support a small collaborative team of staff and contractors
- Convene consultations, working groups, and member-led projects
- Advance equity and inclusion across all aspects of MANO’s work
- Represent the organization publicly and act as a key spokesperson
Requirements / Eligibility
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate most or all of the following:
- A minimum of three (3) years in a leadership or management role within a non-profit, collective, or artist-run context
- Strong knowledge of the media arts landscape in Ontario and Canada
- Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising, and strategic thinking
- Experience with budget management and financial oversight
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead with care, clarity, and accountability
- Strong communication skills and comfort with public speaking and facilitation
- A commitment to equity and accessibility in the arts
- Self-directed, responsive, and values collaborative dialogue
