Supporting the Media Arts in Ontario
MANO spearheads advocacy, professional development, networking and communications for the Ontario media arts sector.
History
The Media Arts Network of Ontario was created in 2009 to provide a responsive voice for Ontario’s media arts sector. MANO continues to play a key role in spearheading advocacy, professional development, networking and communications that increase the profile of the media arts sector in communities across the province.

Mission
MANO is the leading network for advocacy and support of media arts-centred organizations in the province of Ontario.

Vision
MANO strives to facilitate cross-sectoral development, mutual aid, and a world that respects artists.
We are committed to creating connections between artistic disciplines as well as wider social issues as they relate to independent artistic expression.
MANO is committed to an anti-oppression framework, and to building a greater arts and culture ecology around issues of inclusion, equity and accessibility.
Mandate
MANO's mandate is grounded in the belief that community engagement with independent artistic practices improves quality of life by promoting cultural understanding and respect at all levels of society. We strive to:
- Create opportunities for collaborative exchange and knowledge sharing among emerging, mid-level and experienced media arts-centred organizations, collectives and other artist-driven projects;
- Respond to the needs of Ontario media arts-centred communities with advocacy and action-based initiatives;
- Garner greater support and profile for the independent arts sector in both provincial and federal cultural policies;
- Support infrastructure, governance and organizational development for media arts-centred organizations; and
- Advocate for better living conditions for artists.
